Apr 22, 2021 at 8:50 PMAfter thirty years in the Dortmund Technology Park, the German subsidiary of the Swiss intralogistics expert Swisslog has now moved into a state-of-the-art new building in the Dorstfeld district: A sign of expansion and future orientation as well as a commitment to the Ruhr metropolis and to the location Germany.
(Dortmund) Intralogistics provider Swisslog officially opened its new headquarters on Ezzestraße in Dortmund-Dorstfeld on April 20. “We are very pleased to be able to develop even better than before in a modern, spacious new building with all technical possibilities,” says Swisslog CEO Dr. Christian Baur, emphasizing: “The move is a sign of our expansion, a signal for the future to our business partners and employees that we want to further strengthen our leading position in the logistics market and once again affirm our commitment to Dortmund as a location in Germany.”
Software Headquarters and Technology Center
Since the early 1990s, the company, headquartered in Buchs, Switzerland, has been based in the Ruhr metropolis, most recently in the Technology Park on Martin-Schmeißer-Weg, and has been steadily growing since then. The expert in automated storage technology, robotics, and intelligent software maintains its German subsidiary, Swisslog GmbH, in Dortmund alongside its administrative headquarters, as well as its software development headquarters and a technology center. Here, prototype construction and the further development of innovative, data-driven, and robot-supported intralogistics technologies take place.
“Looking to the Future”
“Cutting-edge technology is essential for us,” emphasizes Baur, “with its help, we design warehouse processes for our customers to be very efficient, sustainable, and future-proof.” The new hub is intended to further optimize this process and serve as a creative center and attraction for highly qualified, highly engaged, and indeed visionary employees. “We are looking to the future and not only working on our own intralogistics technologies,” describes CEO Baur the ambition of his company, “we are also focusing on overarching concepts such as artificial intelligence or smart city logistics, the city of the future.”Swisslog customers such as Nestlé, Coca-Cola, dm-drogerie markt, Rewe, and Roche, to name just a few, appreciate the quality and innovative spirit in the form of a loyal and long-standing partnership.<caption id="attachment_10817" align="alignnone" width="1024"]

Symbolic Start for All Employees
Due to Corona, there was no large opening celebration on April 20. Instead, the three German GmbH managing directors – Gerd Jennissen, Heinz Ennen, and Jens Schmale – symbolically started the operation of the new company building: For the approximately 250 employees, who will move in staggered and in small groups for safety reasons. “This gives colleagues the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the new premises in peace and at a distance,” emphasizes Jennissen, “and if the situation allows, we will hold a joint event for the inauguration in the summer.” Swisslog is a tenant in the building complex on Ezzestraße, which was built by Goldbeck West GmbH, Bochum, and is owned by Jaeger Immobilien GmbH & Co. KG, Dortmund.
