The pallet lift connects the automatic warehouse in the basement with the goods receiving and shipping area on the ground floor, as well as with production on the first floor. The Warehouse Control System (WCS) software from Jungheinrich manages efficient automated operations.
(Hamburg; Dietlikon/Switzerland) LUZI fragrance compounds, a Swiss family-owned company dedicated to high-quality fragrance components since 1926, is expanding and investing in a new central headquarters in Dietlikon near Zurich. Jungheinrich has been awarded the contract to implement the automated warehouse and material flow system. The two-aisle in-house racking system with 800 storage locations offers double-deep storage for two industrial pallets per rack compartment with a maximum pallet weight of 1,400 kg.
Completion Planned for 2022
The completion of the new building, including the 63 m long, 15.8 m wide, and 6.7 m high racking system, is planned for next year. The entire warehouse is designed for different hazardous material classes. The areas are separated by fire protection walls, and additional sprinklers prevent the spread of any potential fire to adjacent storage areas. What makes the new facility special is not only its high degree of automation but also its architectural arrangement: the warehouse is located in the basement of the production building. “The two aisle-bound stacker cranes, which Jungheinrich delivers in a two-mast design, operate in pits to gain storage height,” says Michael Hediger, Head of Logistics Systems Projects at Jungheinrich. Jungheinrich also supplies the conveyor and control technology, including the pallet lift, to the Swiss company, which develops fragrances for products such as fine fragrance, body care, air care, and home care. The automatic pallet lifter connects all three floors of the overall solution: the automated warehouse in the basement, the goods receiving and shipping area on the ground floor, and the production on the first floor. Overall, the warehouse will operate for about 220 days a year and significantly increase the efficiency of production supply.
High Safety and Quality Standards
The material flow for the efficient supply of LUZI’s production with raw materials from the warehouse is organized by the Jungheinrich Warehouse Control System (WCS). The software optimizes the processing of transport orders for the automation system, which were transmitted from the customer’s system to the specified destinations. “LUZI stands for top-quality products, high safety and quality standards, and competent consulting services,” reports Jürg Koller, Global CEO. “Not least for this reason, we chose Jungheinrich as our partner for our new automation solution. Through its expertise in this area, the intralogistics expert Jungheinrich has repeatedly demonstrated that it stands for the same values.”
