The Association of German Cold Stores and Cold Logistics Companies e.V. (VDKL) now operates 100% climate-neutral and CO2-free. It is one of the first associations in Germany to fully switch to green electricity.
(Bonn) The entire office of the VDKL will now be supplied with CO2-free green electricity from a Bavarian hydroelectric power plant, making it climate-neutral.
“Climate protection concerns everyone! Therefore, as an association, we want to consciously take the lead and set a clear signal in favor of sustainable environmental protection,” explains RA Jan Peilnsteiner, Managing Director of the VDKL.
Numerous VDKL members from logistics, industry, and trade are already relying on green electricity supply. This is, among other things, an offer from the VDKL electricity pool. Through this, electricity amounting to over 1.2 TWh (1.2 billion kWh) is purchased directly at the energy exchange EEX in Leipzig.
The VDKL represents over 80% of the commercial cold stores in Germany. Members include service, industrial, and trading companies that operate in the field of temperature-controlled logistics for frozen and fresh products.
