With a total logistics area of 40,000 square meters, the family-owned company offers logistics services to its customer Globus Baumarkt and other companies in the region. The expansion creates 40 new jobs.
(Kempten/Magdeburg) The new facility, covering an area of 8.4 hectares, includes two halls with a total logistics area of 40,000 square meters. One warehouse, specifically designed for the storage and picking of food and non-food items, has an area of approximately 8,000 square meters. Another warehouse for contract logistics activities has an area of 32,000 square meters. Additionally, the Dachser distribution center in Magdeburg, with the expansion, features about 1,880 square meters of office and social spaces. An additional outdoor storage area of 3,000 square meters is also connected to the site. Together with the distribution center in Oschersleben, located 40 kilometers away, the Dachser logistics center in Magdeburg now encompasses 55,000 square meters of total logistics area and can accommodate around 80,000 pallets.
Designed for Growth
“In our new facility, we provide storage and distribution services for our customer Globus Baumarkt as well as renowned regional and global manufacturers and retailers of industrial goods and food products,” explains Christian Schäckel, General Manager of the Magdeburg logistics center. “Our employees implement a forward-looking logistics concept focused on growth for them.” Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner at Panattoni, comments on the project: “With the handover of the distribution center in Magdeburg, we have been able to expand the series of successful developments for and with Dachser by another milestone. Strong in the Region for Over 25 Years
Dachser has been present in Magdeburg for over 25 years. Around 170 employees ensure the smooth execution of logistics services. “In addition to classic transport services, we also handle the storage of industrial goods and food products as well as so-called value-added services such as display construction or packaging,” says Christian Schäckel. Dachser is conveniently located in the Magdeburg North industrial area and is connected to the A2 and A14 motorways. From Magdeburg, the logistics service provider serves destinations such as Belgium, the Netherlands, or Austria with daily departures. Through the Air & Sea Logistics branch in Langenhagen near Hanover, the Magdeburg logistics center is connected to all global markets.
