Mar 11, 2021 at 7:56 PMThe wagon rental company Wascosa from Lucerne, Switzerland, and Gigaton agree on an optimization area in spare parts logistics. The aim is to connect most of Wascosa’s partner workshops to the LogoS C/S 3 software. The goal is to increase transparency regarding inventory and optimize it.
(Hameln/Lucerne) The internationally active freight wagon rental and management company Wascosa AG, headquartered in Lucerne, Switzerland, is launching an optimization project for spare parts logistics with the WMS LogoS C/S 3 from Gigaton. Wascosa manages over 16,000 freight wagons that need to be serviced and repaired in many different workshops across Europe.
Entire range of articles is managed
Through the warehouse management software LogoS, a large part of the repair workshops operating on behalf of Wascosa will be connected in the medium term, and the inventory for spare parts logistics will be managed there. The entire range of articles must be considered, from large parts such as wheel sets, ball bearings, couplings, shock absorbers, etc., to small parts like screws, seals, etc. Spare parts are booked after delivery and acceptance in the goods receipt and added to the inventory. After the demand request via repair orders, the inventory is then booked out again. Additionally, special processes for preparing revision-capable articles, such as wheel sets, must be taken into account, as well as tracking installed parts for specific assemblies.
Promoting exchange between workshops
The goal of Wascosa is to increase inventory transparency and optimize inventory management by promoting the exchange of parts between workshops. For the implementation of the pilot project at the Hameln location, a compact solution called LogoS Compact was used. These compact solutions are characterized particularly by their special implementation method via pre-configured standard process integrations. Thus, a project implementation was possible in just six weeks. The commissioning took place in October 2020. Now, additional workshop locations are to be gradually connected and rolled out.
