Feb 22, 2021 at 4:49 PMThree years after the start of small-scale production, the delivery of Daimler Trucks’ fully electric light truck FUSO eCanter has exceeded the mark of 200 vehicles. Customers in eleven countries and cities such as New York, Tokyo, Berlin, London, Amsterdam, Paris, Dublin, Oslo, Copenhagen, Helsinki, and Lisbon rely on the reliable e-truck for urban distribution.
(Stuttgart/Tokyo) Since the introduction of the eCanter in 2017, FUSO has been a pioneer and trailblazer in electric trucks and is consistently working on implementing sustainable, CO2-neutral transport solutions. As of February 2021, over 40 vehicles are in daily customer operation in the United States, more than 60 trucks in Japan, and over 100 FUSO eCanter in Europe. The total distance traveled by the fully electric global eCanter fleet now exceeds 3 million kilometers – equivalent to about 75 times around the globe.
Range of over 100 kilometers
The 7.49-ton truck has a range of over 100 kilometers and is particularly suitable for local emission-free and quiet urban distribution. In addition, the FUSO eCanter impresses with features such as its excellent chassis load capacity of 4.15 tons, which is more than sufficient for urban distribution operations. Typical applications for the vehicle include the delivery of goods over short distances, e-commerce orders, mail, or even the transport of beverages and industrial gases. Customers in Europe include well-known logistics companies such as PostNL, Dachser, Deutsche Post DHL, the Rhenus Group, and DB Schenker.
As a pioneer in e-trucks, FUSO has the vision to accelerate the electrification and local emission-free transport in the commercial vehicle industry. In line with Daimler Trucks’ sustainability strategy, FUSO is leading the commercial vehicle industry into the future and aims for all new vehicles in the triad (Europe, North America, and Japan) to be “tank-to-wheel” CO2-neutral by 2039. The eCanter plays an important role in achieving climate-neutral transport, which is being pursued by various governments in European countries and also overseas.
