Founded in 1971 by Walter Winkler and his wife Hildegard, the company has been a driver of innovation and a pioneer in the planning, realization, and operation of high-performance automated logistics centers for 50 years, as well as a reliable employer in the region. To kick off the anniversary year, there was a special award from the Bavarian state government.
(Parkstein) Selected from about 8,000 medium-sized companies in Bavaria, WITRON is one of “Bavaria’s Best 50”. The award, usually presented with a festive program in Munich, was received by the Parkstein family business shortly before Christmas along with a video message by mail.
The sponsor of the award is the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy. Together with an independent jury, particularly growth-oriented medium-sized companies in Bavaria are selected and evaluated for nomination. The sustainable business success and the convincing growth figures of WITRON were crucial for this recognition.
500 Additional Employees in 2020
In the past year alone, nearly 500 additional employees were hired worldwide, increasing the number of employees to 4,500. Over 100 trainees started their professional careers at WITRON in 2020. And WITRON continues to grow – especially in the IT sector, the company will continue to strengthen itself. The founder sees the technological competitive advantage of WITRON solutions for trade and distribution logistics, high customer trust, and the reliable implementation of customer projects as the basis for continuous growth.
