(Bern) The Federal Customs Administration (FCA) is creating the conditions for Switzerland’s connection to EETS, the EU’s Europe-wide compatible electronic toll service (European Electronic Toll Service, EETS). This means that drivers of foreign transport vehicles no longer have to get out at the border to pay the performance-dependent heavy vehicle fee (LSVA). This can now be done continuously in a digital manner using a small on-board recording device.
Collaboration with EETS providers
The FCA is now working with private recording service providers, known as EETS providers. The first EETS provider, Telepass, has passed the required multi-stage approval process. The first official EETS trip to Switzerland took place today in Chiasso. The replacement of the existing LSVA recording system for domestic vehicles (emotach) is scheduled for early 2024 according to the roadmap of the transformation program DaziT. The list of further approved EETS providers will be continuously published on the FCA’s website.
