Dec 20, 2020 at 7:30 PMAshwin Bhat will be the new Chief Sales Officer of Lufthansa Cargo. The head of the cargo division of SWISS succeeds Dorothea von Boxberg, who will become the CEO. Bhat will take up his position on March 1, 2021. He is responsible for the external organization for sales and handling worldwide.
(Frankfurt) Ashwin Bhat will take over as a member of the board and head of the Product and Sales division (Chief Commercial Officer) of Lufthansa Cargo on March 1, 2021. The 51-year-old will thus succeed Dorothea von Boxberg, who will assume the position of CEO on the same day.
As Chief Commercial Officer of Lufthansa Cargo, Ashwin Bhat is responsible for the global external organization for sales and handling, the product, revenue management, pricing, network planning, and sales control.
With Swiss and its predecessor companies since 1999
Bhat has been leading the cargo department of Swiss International Air Lines in Zurich as Vice President and Head of Cargo since October 2015. He joined the then Swisscargo AG in February 1999 and has held various management positions, including in revenue management, transport management, and global area management, up to his last position as Head of Cargo for Swiss International Air Lines.
“I am very pleased that we have been able to recruit Ashwin Bhat, a very experienced Lufthansa employee, as Chief Sales Officer,” said Harry Hohmeister, member of the board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG and chairman of the supervisory board of Lufthansa Cargo. “With his extensive expertise in the cargo business and his many years of sales experience, he will further strengthen Lufthansa Cargo’s leading position in international competition.”
Ashwin Bhat, born in 1969, graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Chemistry, from the University of Mumbai, India, and worked for several years as a manager in accounting for an airline financial services provider in Mumbai before starting his career in Zurich.
