Dec 14, 2020 at 6:39 PMThis year, the logistics service provider Greiwing logistics for you GmbH is donating to various food banks in the vicinity of its branches. The company has been supporting charitable projects for 17 years. This time, the support goes to eleven food banks instead of Christmas gifts for customers.
(Greven) Greiwing logistics for you GmbH supports the work of food banks with a total donation of €11,000. The branch managers of the logistics specialist recently presented symbolic checks of €1,000 each to the facilities in Greven, Burghausen, Wesel, Worms, Weiden, Frankfurt a.M., Raunheim, Leipheim, Ludwigshafen, Münchsmünster, and Duisburg. The family-owned company from Greven has been forgoing Christmas gifts for its customers for 17 years and instead focuses on donations and sponsorships for charitable organizations and projects for disadvantaged or sick children.
Social Responsibility
“As a company, we naturally take care of our employees first and foremost. However, we also feel a social responsibility,” says Jürgen Greiwing, managing partner of Greiwing logistics for you GmbH. To fulfill this responsibility, the logistics specialist based in Westphalian Greven has been supporting charitable organizations that help disadvantaged and/or sick people for 17 years. Traditionally, during the pre-Christmas season, the company considers a selected organization or institution for a larger donation. This year, a total of €11,000 will go to the food banks. “The food banks not only ensure that needy people in Germany do not have to go hungry. They also prevent perfectly good food from being thrown away just because it has minor dents or is close to its expiration date,” says Greiwing. According to their own statements, the food banks save around 265,000 tons of food each year to distribute to over 1.6 million people. Additionally, the approximately 940 food banks provide a space for encounters for those affected by poverty, thereby creating a framework for building a social network.
Helping as Many Affected Individuals as Possible
This year, the Christmas donation from the Greven family business will benefit not just one organization as usual, but eleven. Jürgen Greiwing: “The Corona crisis has hit many families hard economically and brought them into need. To help as many as possible, we decided to distribute our donation this year equally among the food banks in the eleven cities where we have a branch ourselves.” Thus, the Greiwing branch managers recently handed over symbolic checks of €1,000 each to the food banks in Greven, Burghausen, Wesel, Worms, Weiden, Frankfurt a.M., Raunheim, Leipheim, Ludwigshafen, Münchsmünster, and Duisburg. The company consciously refrains from stipulating how or for what the money should be used. “Experience shows that the recipients of the donations know best how to use them,” says Greiwing.
Sponsorship for Children in Need
A fixed part of Greiwing’s social commitment is also a sponsorship for children in need. Through the charitable children’s aid organization PLAN, the logistics provider has been supporting ten children for 17 years. Jürgen Greiwing: “Contributing to the common good is a matter of course for us as a family business,” says Jürgen Greiwing.
