(Frankfurt/Main) The two specialized associations for freight transport of the State Association of the Transport Industry Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e. V. and the State Association of the Berlin and Brandenburg Transport Industry e.V. (LBBV) will deepen their existing cooperation as BGL-Nord effective January 1, 2021. This was decided today following the LBBV member assembly.
Addressing the Changed Structures
After very constructive discussions among representatives of the two associations, with the involvement of the BGL in recent weeks, and the now received approval from the committees, the cooperation, which is limited to the respective specialized associations for road freight transport, aims to take into account the significantly changing structures in the German and European transport market and to leverage potential efficiency gains in association work through digitization and networking. At the state, federal, and European levels, the two specialized associations will speak with a united strong voice in the future. However, regional peculiarities will still remain within the competence of the respective state association.
Further Goals of the Cooperation
The further goals of the cooperation, which centers around the more than 400 member companies, include among others:
- Joint marketing and public relations internally and externally, thereby strengthening perception towards politics, the public, the press, and other associations
- Establishment of the BGL-Nord brand
- Strengthening member retention through continuously improved service and consulting quality both personally and digitally, as well as joint informational events
Other State Associations Welcome
Other interested BGL state associations are warmly invited to join the cooperation. BGL board spokesperson Prof. Dr. Dirk Engelhardt: “I warmly welcome this new cooperation as the second interregional alliance within the BGL association. This way, we can achieve efficiency increases and represent the interests of the freight transport industry even better through a joint appearance.”
