Nov 19, 2020 at 6:45 PMThe CEO of Lufthansa Cargo, Peter Gerber, will transition to Brussels Airlines as CEO effective March 1, 2021, and will take on the newly created role of General Representative of the Lufthansa Group in Brussels. Dorothea von Boxberg will succeed him. She has been serving as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) for Lufthansa Cargo since 2018.
(Frankfurt am Main) Peter Gerber (56) will succeed Dieter Vranckx as CEO of Brussels Airlines. Subject to the pending approval of the Brussels Airlines Board of Directors, Gerber will move to Belgium on March 1, 2021. Together with Nina Öwerdieck, CFO of Brussels Airlines, and Edi Wolfensberger, COO of the Belgian airline, Peter Gerber will continue to implement the company’s turnaround plan “Reboot Plus” and build a strong, lean, and competitive Brussels Airlines. In addition to leading the Belgian airline, he will also take on the newly created role of General Representative of the Lufthansa Group for European Affairs in Brussels, thus representing the interests of the entire Lufthansa Group at the European level.
Dorothea von Boxberg is set to become the new Chief Executive Officer and Chairwoman of the Board of Lufthansa Cargo AG on March 1, 2021. The 46-year-old will succeed Peter Gerber.
The Supervisory Board must still approve
The supervisory boards must still approve these proposals. Gerber’s appointment to the Lufthansa subsidiary Brussels Airlines is part of the group’s customary rotation policy for management positions.

Peter Gerber began his career in the Lufthansa Group in 1992. Throughout his career, he has held various management positions within the Lufthansa Group. In June 2009, Gerber was appointed to the Board of Lufthansa Cargo AG, where he was responsible for Finance and Human Resources. In June 2012, Gerber moved to the Board of Lufthansa Passenger Airlines, overseeing Human Resources, IT & Services. Since May 2014, Peter Gerber has been the Chairman of the Board of Lufthansa Cargo AG.

Dorothea von Boxberg studied industrial engineering at TU Berlin and ESCP/EAP Paris. From 1999 to 2005, she worked at the consulting firm The Boston Consulting Group in Stuttgart, most recently as a project manager. In 2005, Dorothea von Boxberg joined Star Alliance, where she was responsible for Alliance Development. In 2007, she joined Deutsche Lufthansa AG and led the “Strategy and Investments” division of Lufthansa Passenger from 2009. She then took on several leadership positions in product management at Lufthansa Passenger. In 2015, Ms. von Boxberg moved to Lufthansa Cargo, initially leading the Global Sales Management division before being appointed Chief Commercial Officer of Lufthansa Cargo in 2018, thus rising to the board.
A successor for Dorothea von Boxberg as Board Member for Product and Sales will be announced at a later date.
