Nov 5, 2020 at 7:00 AMGebrüder Weiss GmbH is launching the second transport line from Central Europe to Russia. The large export volume of Central European companies to the Russian Federation offers great potential for Weiss. The groupage line Vienna-Moscow is thus the logical consequence for Weiss.
(Lauterach / Moscow) – Starting November 2, Gebrüder Weiss will launch a new weekly line connection between Vienna and Moscow. The company is thus expanding its transport offering for groupage towards Russia. It is the second regular direct connection from Gebrüder Weiss to the Russian capital. For two years, the logistics provider has been operating a successful groupage transport from Memmingen in Bavaria to Moscow. Due to its enormous size and approximately 140 million inhabitants, Russia is particularly interesting for export-oriented European companies as a sales market.
Good experiences from the Memmingen-Moscow line
“The new groupage line Vienna-Moscow meets the increasing demand from our customers for regular services towards Russia. We have gained good experiences with the Memmingen-Moscow line, which we were able to use for the development of the second connection,” says Thomas Moser, Director and Regional Manager Black Sea/CIS at Gebrüder Weiss. Vienna serves as a central goods transshipment point for traffic from Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe. The main goods transported are consumer goods, automotive parts, and industrial components.
Transport duration of four days
Initially, Gebrüder Weiss will start with weekly departures on Fridays from Vienna. The transport duration to Moscow is four days. The nationwide delivery to the goods recipients within Russia is ensured by the logistics provider through its exclusive partner JDE (Zheldor Ekspeditsiya). With 244 locations in the Russian Federation, the groupage forwarding company has one of the largest distribution networks between Smolensk and Vladivostok. In the medium term, Gebrüder Weiss plans to increase the frequency of the two line transports. Further groupage lines from Europe to Russia are to follow.
