This is a strategic investment in the robotics specialist and a cooperation is being established for the development of automation software. The aim is also to expand joint solution expertise for automated intralogistics.
(Hamburg/Dingolfing) The Hamburg-based Jungheinrich AG is investing in the Munich robotics start-up Magazino. Representatives of both companies signed the relevant contracts in Dingolfing near Munich. At the same time, Jungheinrich and Magazino are agreeing on a broad strategic cooperation and will henceforth pool their competencies in the field of mobile automation.
“Magazino is a highly innovative young company with outstanding expertise in navigation and control software for mobile automation. This investment follows our strategy in the field of automation and will make a significant contribution to the accelerated expansion of our business with automated vehicles,” says Dr. Lars Brzoska, CEO of Jungheinrich AG.
Automation is Considered a Growth Driver
Automation is regarded as one of the biggest growth drivers in the intralogistics industry. Jungheinrich expects double-digit growth rates in this segment in the coming years. This trend is primarily driven by the continued strong increase in online trade and the global shortage of skilled workers in logistics, particularly forklift operators.
Magazino has been on the market since 2014 with a mobile picking robot that can intelligently navigate in warehouses and precisely grasp the right boxes. The system is in use in the warehouses of various online retailers and logistics service providers. “By controlling the robots in this complex environment, Magazino has developed a unique global competence that we want to further expand together in the future and integrate into the Jungheinrich product world,” says Dr. Lars Brzoska.
High Market Demand for Robotics Software
“Jungheinrich’s investment in Magazino demonstrates the high market demand for our robotics software ACROS.AI and our robots. This will enable Magazino to play a central role as a software player in the rapidly growing mobile robotics market in the future,” says Frederik Brantner, CEO and Co-Founder of Magazino.
Jungheinrich launched its first driverless transport system in 1962. Since then, the company has developed into one of the leading providers in the rapidly growing market for automated industrial trucks. With the help of intelligent software and modern navigation technology, Jungheinrich continuously expands its solution portfolio towards mobile automation.
