Sep 24, 2020 at 5:04 PMThe express logistics provider Night Star Express has gained a new customer in BayWa AG. As one of the largest agricultural dealers in Europe, BayWa relies on the fast delivery of its products, particularly in the field of agricultural technology. Night Star Express supplies 230 technical workshops of BayWa.
(Unna) Night Star Express, a reliable partner for night shipments for over 25 years, will now take over the night express logistics for spare parts for BayWa AG. The BayWa central warehouse in Röthlein, Lower Franconia, as well as the over 230 technical workshops of the group in Germany are now integrated into the Night Star Express network. This ensures that approximately 14 million different spare parts are available at all BayWa technical locations. BayWa customers who order spare parts online, for example, will receive their shipments by 8 a.m. at the latest. BayWa is a globally active company in the fields of agriculture, energy, and construction, and one of the largest agricultural dealers in Europe. Its product portfolio, especially in the field of agricultural technology, includes not only agricultural machines and equipment but also farm technology, professional gardening technology, as well as information and sensor technology for the agricultural sector.
Gradual Implementation
“We are very pleased about the new collaboration,” says Sascha Ullrich, Sales Manager of Night Star Express Honold GmbH. “With our experience with other customers from the technology, agriculture, and construction sectors, we are perfectly positioned and have the densely woven network across Europe that is needed for this new collaboration. As a partner company, good preparation is of utmost importance. Through the excellent cooperation with the responsible employees at BayWa, especially in the IT sector, as well as the commitment of many colleagues, we have managed to meet BayWa’s requirements and provide an almost perfect delivery rate from the very first shipping day.”The implementation of night express logistics at BayWa was carried out gradually: After initial tests with BayWa workshops and selected suppliers, the connection of the central warehouse in Röthlein followed in July. “The shipping start went smoothly,” says Tanja Kaupert, Head of Wholesale Parts at BayWa AG. “Time plays a significant role in agriculture. Longer downtime of machines and equipment could lead to considerable economic losses for our customers. Therefore, the fast and punctual shipping of urgently needed spare parts is particularly important here.
Contactless Delivery in Depots
The entire delivery process at night is transparent for BayWa and its customers and involves little effort. Deliveries are made to so-called depots. These drop-off locations are predetermined and transmitted digitally to Night Star Express once. The data is directly transferred to the scanners of the drivers. With a key or access code, they open the depot and deliver the shipments. The transport is digitally documented without gaps. Thus, the entire transport route is traceable, and a secure and contactless delivery at night in the absence of the recipient is possible.Photo: © lassedesignen / Adobe Stockwww.night-star-express.de www.baywa.com
