(Bad Friedrichshall) FoodOase GmbH offers food products for people with allergies and intolerances in its online shop. When founder Sandra Neuber started the online shop in 2007, she was one of the first to sell such specialized food online. What began as a small heartfelt project in her garage near Hamburg has now developed into a leading provider in this segment. Since its founding, the company has been on a continuous growth path. In 2019, FoodOase recorded further revenue growth through the integration of the online shop querfood. And even in the first half of 2020, the order volume has significantly increased again.
Logistics Previously External
The FoodOase previously handled its warehouse logistics externally through a logistics service provider, for whom the rapid growth of the company with its manually operated warehouse posed an increasing challenge. With the still very positive growth forecasts, Sandra Neuber quickly realized that a new logistics concept was necessary. As a result, the entrepreneur has now rented a logistics hall in Geesthacht. The logistics is to be integrated into the company in the future. The planning and realization of the new warehouse is being carried out through a collaboration between Element Logic and the Hamburg logistics consultant LogBer. At the center of the warehouse will be a fully automated, robot-based storage and picking system AutoStore®, which is planned and implemented by Element Logic. The facility is designed in its first expansion stage to cover an area of 220 m² and is intended to handle orders from all of the company’s online shops. According to the founder, this is one of the largest and most important investments in the history of FoodOase.
Fast and Reliable Shipping
“Our customers expect us to ship very quickly and reliably. This is especially important to them. Due to their special dietary needs, they often cannot find the food they can tolerate and need for their daily requirements in supermarkets. With our scalable, automated warehouse, we want to ensure that we meet these expectations now and in the future, at all times,” says Sandra Neuber, founder and managing director of FoodOase. Element Logic, as the general contractor, provides not only the central AutoStore solution for this project but also a warehouse management and material flow control system, which organizes and optimizes not only AutoStore but also the complete manual areas of the logistics center. The AutoStore system of FoodOase includes 6,100 containers and 13 AutoStore robots in the first phase. Three carousel ports are available for storing or retrieving goods. The completed facility is to be handed over to the customer by February 2021 at the latest.
