(Press Release: Duisburg / Zwijndrecht) As of September 1, 2020, Contargo will take over the activities of the Dutch Barge Line Today. The asset deal includes both the employees of the inland shipping company and its customer relationships.
“With Barge Line Today, Contargo can further expand its activities in the Benelux countries. The acquisition allows us an interesting expansion of our service portfolio, especially in the Rotterdam region,” says Marcel Hulsker, Co-Managing Director of Contargo GmbH & Co. KG.
Barge Line Today is an established provider of inland shipping transport in the ARA ports region. The portfolio includes daily inter-terminal container liner services in Rotterdam as well as other connections in the region, such as inland shipping traffic to and from Dordrecht and Moerdijk. Like Contargo, Barge Line Today operates with part-charters and charter contracts and manages ships with loading capacities of up to 500 TEU or 5,000 tons per ship.
After integration, the activities of Barge Line Today will be merged with the existing inland shipping activities in Benelux under the trade name Transbox.
Barge Line Today’s previous managing director, Carsten Borchers, will become the managing director of Contargo Transbox in Belgium and Contargo Network Service within Contargo.
