Jul 23, 2020 at 7:02 AMThe wheel manufacturer Torwegge GmbH & Co. KG from Bielefeld is benefiting from the increased demand for wheels as companies are purchasing more during the Corona times. The medium-sized businesses prefer maintaining existing equipment over making new purchases. Competent and trained consultants ensure that the right wheel is purchased for the corresponding purpose.
(Bielefeld) Torwegge GmbH & Co. KG is currently experiencing a high demand for wheels. Many companies are using these in the maintenance or repair of their material flow systems, from hand trolleys to automated conveyor systems. Especially in medium-sized businesses, the order of the hour during the crisis is: better to maintain existing equipment than to make new purchases. Given the large selection of different wheels, choosing the right components can be a challenge for some buyers. Not every wheel fits every application or housing. At Torwegge, experienced consultants assist customers in making the right decision. Due to the high stock levels, most wheels are also delivered within two to three days.
Less Costly Investments
“The type of wheel a user needs depends on many factors. Before we sell components, we ask exactly where they are to be used,” explains Uwe Eschment, Managing Director of Torwegge GmbH & Co. KG. In this way, the consultants gain a precise understanding of the intralogistical challenges faced by customers and then recommend the appropriate components. “Especially for cost-conscious companies, comprehensive consulting pays off. After all, it leads to smart and forward-thinking purchasing decisions,” says Eschment. The Corona crisis has led to less costly investments being made and has given the wheel segment a boost. Eschment: “Wheels are often used in maintenance. Preventing something from breaking down in the operation is particularly important for many companies right now.”
At Torwegge, they know exactly when which wheel is needed. The company has been developing and selling innovative solutions for intralogistics for almost 65 years. As early as 1956, the founder of the company demonstrated wheel and roller expertise when he manufactured the first components in his garage. Over the years, the family business has grown and established itself as a specialist in intralogistics, characterized by expertise, high product quality, and short delivery times.
250,000 Wheels in Stock
Torwegge has around 250,000 wheels in stock in Bielefeld and can deliver them at short notice. Additionally, custom-made products can be developed and produced. The components differ, for example, in terms of durability, rolling resistance, load capacity, size, and price. The running surfaces have a significant influence on the properties of a wheel. The suitable material depends on the intended use. The classics among the wheels for many industrial applications are made of solid rubber. They are inexpensive and offer a wide variety. Generally, solid rubber wheels provide good rolling comfort, run quietly, and are gentle on the floor. A plastic that is also used in children’s toys is thermoplastic. It has similar properties to rubber but does not contain plasticizers, making it non-harmful to health. Additionally, it is non-marking and odorless. For those needing a break-resistant wheel, Torwegge recommends polyamide. Loads of up to 6 tons per wheel can be transported with it.
To help customers find their way, the intralogistics specialist has created a wheel guide in addition to its consulting services. Those who want to inform themselves initially will find an overview of the properties and application areas of various materials in it. “It is important to us that our customers feel well-informed. They should understand why they are buying which product,” says Eschment. For this reason, Torwegge places great value on a competent and well-trained consulting team.
