Jul 2, 2020 at 8:16 AMFrom now on, the Frankfurt-based cooling logistics provider Thermologistic Frankfurt GmbH will take over the Fresh-To-Door transports for Lufthansa Cargo in Europe as a direct cooperation partner. Lufthansa Cargo sees great potential in air freight replacement traffic.
(Frankfurt am Main) As a partner of Lufthansa Cargo, Thermologistic is now responsible for the distribution of lightly perishable air freight across Europe. The cooperation between the leading airline in Europe and the Frankfurt cooling logistics provider includes the planning and execution of refrigerated transports for fresh food and plants in overland traffic.
“Even as a subcontractor, Thermologistic has excelled with its services. As a direct cooperation partner, we are even more responsible for providing the best service,” says Bernd Schmied, Managing Director of Thermologistic Frankfurt GmbH. “We see great potential for the expansion of air freight replacement traffic in the coming years.”
Service at Multiple Airports
Thermologistic will offer the so-called Fresh-To-Door service at Lufthansa destinations Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Munich, and Brussels. All orders will be centrally managed from the headquarters of the cooling transporter in Frankfurt. The close proximity to the Perishable Center Frankfurt and the Lufthansa disposition at Frankfurt Airport, combined with a 24/7 readiness, ensure reliable and, above all, flexible order processing. Thermologistic also guarantees the quick onward transport to the respective recipients. This is particularly important for the distribution of lightly perishable goods.
The goods are usually taken over by the air freight carrier at the cooling logistics centers of the airports and transshipped there without interrupting the cold chain. The onward transport of lightly perishable goods, such as fruits, vegetables, or cut flowers, is done on pallets or special air freight carriers. Thermologistic also uses trailers with roller beds to shorten loading times. The compliance with the loading temperature, which is crucial for refrigerated transports, is ensured at all times through a standardized monitoring management.
Through the cooperation with Lufthansa Cargo, Thermologistic expects an annual revenue of 2.5 million euros and a transport volume of 20,000 tons. This corresponds to approximately 3,000 truck loads.
“By continuing our Perishable-To-Door services with our partner Thermologistic, we can further build on the existing quality and flexibility. We are very pleased that we can guarantee continuity for our customers with this service provider,” emphasizes Oliver Blum, head of the Perishable team at Lufthansa Cargo.
Ensuring Supply with Fresh Products
Whether cut flowers from Kenya, meat from Argentina, vegetables from Chile, or fruits from Canada – together with Lufthansa Cargo, Thermologistic ensures the safe transport from producers to recipients, thus securing the supply of fresh products in Europe.
The company Thermologistic Frankfurt GmbH was founded in 2018. The logistics company’s headquarters, focusing on climate-controlled transports, is located at Frankfurt Airport with direct access to the Perishable Center Frankfurt. In addition, the company has tarpaulin trailers for oversized engine transports. Thermologistic is certified according to ISO 9001:2015, IFS Logistics, and GDP, and places great importance on quality and sustainability in all logistics projects. More at:
