(Lengerich/Hausach) Sievert Logistik SE has gained a prominent new customer in Badische Stahlwerke in Kehl. The company, which claims to be one of the world’s leading electric steelworks and primarily produces high-quality reinforcement steel, has entrusted the logistics specialist with a major order. The contract includes the supply of tons of sand and sintered magnesite to the plant, as well as the disposal of steel mill dust.
“We are striving to expand the order volumes that ensure us a year-round proportional utilization. Against this background, we are very pleased that Badische Stahlwerke have placed their trust in us,” says Holger Kompfe, head of disposal logistics at Sievert Logistik SE.
To ensure the disposal of filter dust seven days a week, Sievert Logistik primarily handles the order from its location in Hausach, just 40 kilometers from Kehl. Forward planning also ensures that the transports are generally carried out by the same drivers who have been specially trained for this purpose and are familiar with the local conditions.
Disposition is Managed In-House
Both the supply and disposal transports are managed by the logistics specialist in-house. One of the requirements is to never let the plant’s own 160-ton silo run into the critical range. For this reason, Sievert’s dispatchers can view its fill level online at any time. Since part of the transports – from the plant to the loading station in Kehl – is handled by rail, they are also in close contact with Deutsche Bahn.
Furthermore, the requirement from Badische Stahlwerke for the commissioning was that the processing is done 100 percent in self-entry. At the same time, the logistics service provider should have both technical and personnel capacities that allow for flexible responses even during peak times. “This once again shows that it was strategically correct to consolidate the dispatching of our locations in Heilbronn and Hausach,” says Kompfe.
