May 18, 2020 at 2:29 PMThe international parcel and express service DPD has temporarily suspended operations at the parcel depot Hückelhoven (district of Heinsberg) in agreement with the responsible health authority. Previously, several employees at the Hückelhoven branch tested positive for a COVID-19 infection.
(Hückelhoven/Aschaffenburg, May 16, 2020) Immediately after the first infections became known, the Heinsberg health authority tested all employees on the premises at a mobile testing station set up at the branch for COVID-19. Due to the interim results indicating a significantly increased number of cases at the site, DPD, in agreement with the health authority of the district of Heinsberg, decided on Friday afternoon (May 15, 2020) to proactively suspend operations at Depot 141 Hückelhoven and temporarily relieve all employees working there (including delivery personnel and staff of the hall contractor) from their duties and tasks within the depot area. This is to protect all employees, who have been sent into quarantine as a precaution.
The depot and all employees, system partners, and delivery personnel are now in a two-week quarantine period. The location will not be operational during this time. Extensive cleaning and disinfection work will take place shortly. The delivery and collection of parcels in the delivery area of Hückelhoven will be ensured by neighboring DPD locations.
DPD is fully and cooperatively working with the responsible authorities to trace and prevent infection pathways. During a site inspection by the health authority, the nature of the workplaces and premises was reviewed. The protective measures taken by DPD were rated very positively. Furthermore, suggested optimizations were immediately implemented by DPD.
The health of employees, delivery personnel, and parcel recipients is DPD’s top priority. DPD protects its employees and customers through numerous measures, such as contactless parcel delivery. Accordingly, strict hygiene and safety measures have been enforced both during delivery and in the depots.
