May 16, 2020 at 9:21 AMThe Honold Group is building another logistics center in Neu-Ulm on approximately 8 hectares. The new building includes a hall area of 20,000 square meters and 500 square meters of office space. The anchor tenant is the Husqvarna Group.
(Neu-Ulm, 15.05.2020) With this step, Honold and the Husqvarna Group, which also includes Gardena, are further deepening their successful collaboration. The continuously positive business development made it necessary to expand capacities. The companies are responding to the increasing demand with a significant increase in logistics services for the Ulm plant. The Husqvarna Group will be the long-term anchor tenant of the property, which is expected to be completed in October 2020.
Before the construction activities began at the end of 2019, special initial conditions had to be taken into account. The area, originally used for gravel extraction, had been a military-used wasteland after the Second World War. In numerous coordination discussions with the responsible authorities, environmental and species protection regulations were incorporated into the extensive planning. A comprehensive ordnance investigation down to deeper layers was also unavoidable. In total, this led to a complexity that had to be assessed by various expert reports. These concluded that the development would lead to a positive environmental effect.
Construction started even before Corona
Despite restrictions due to border closures from the Corona crisis, the construction project is on schedule. Conveniently located, a state-of-the-art logistics center is being built in Neu-Ulm that meets the latest standards.
Heiner Matthias Honold explains: “We are experienced in the development of user-specific logistics properties and well-positioned with an experienced team. We are very pleased to have developed this ideal area for our customer in Neu-Ulm. The establishment was favorably supported by the local authorities. Around 50 jobs will be created. The construction began even before the Corona crisis. Regardless, we would have started this new building even during the crisis. We still feel a growing demand for logistics properties.”
