Mar 30, 2020 at 9:09 AMThe Bremen-based Eurogate GmbH received today the first of six container bridges for its Eurogate Container Terminal in Hamburg. The bridges are delivered from final assembly in Bremerhaven to Hamburg.
(Hamburg, 27.03.2020) This afternoon, the first of a total of six new container bridges for the Eurogate Container Terminal Hamburg was delivered.
The six new container bridges are manufactured by the Irish company Liebherr Container Cranes. They are designed for the handling of large container ships with up to 24 container rows on deck. The total lifting height of the spreader is 70 meters, and the load capacity of the lifting part is 66 tons. Each bridge has a weight of 2,100 tons.
The final assembly of the bridges takes place beforehand at the southern end of the Bremerhaven container terminal. After the assembly of the individual bridge components is completed there, they are loaded onto a barge and shipped to Hamburg.
The delivery of all six bridges is expected to be completed in the first half of 2020, subject to the further development of the Corona epidemic. The commissioning is currently planned for the beginning of the second half of 2020.
With these new bridges, Eurogate is preparing for the increasingly larger ships in the Hamburg port and is investing in the future viability of the location.
