Moving goods in an environmentally friendly way is equally important for us, our customers, and our community,” says Larisa Senkeviéien, Head of Intermodal Service at Girteka Logistics.By incorporating rail and ferry transport into the logistics process, the company significantly reduces CO2 emissions. It is estimated that transporting goods by rail can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 75%. In 2019, Girteka Logistics reduced its CO2 footprint by 2,500 tons of CO2 through the use of intermodal transport services.The company views rail transport as an integral part of Girteka Logistics’ long-term strategy, according to Larisa Senkevicien. It is one of the most environmentally friendly ways to transport goods over long distances.Girteka Logistics already operates several intermodal routes to transport goods between Italy – Germany, the UK, Spain; France – Poland; Spain – Benelux, Germany, the United Kingdom, Poland. Approximately 250 full truck loads are transported weekly through these routes.The company utilizes eight intermodal rail and ferry lines, but Girteka Logistics is working to expand its network and aims to reduce its CO2 footprint at least four times compared to the results from 2019.Larisa Senkeviéiena states: “As a company, we take great responsibility in reducing pollution and preserving a healthy environment for all.
