HHLA Hamburg Achieves Goals in Fiscal Year 2019
Feb 13, 2020 at 6:21 AMHupac Group Achieves 13% Traffic Growth
Feb 19, 2020 at 7:31 AMSwitzerland, a pioneer in hydrogen electomobility, is entering the next phase. A key foundation for this is laid by the H2 Mobility Switzerland support association. Together, they represent more than 5,000 trucks and 2,000 filling stations. Another important milestone follows with the expansion of the filling station network along the axis of Eastern Switzerland – Zurich – Mittelland – Lausanne.
(Zurich, 14.02.2020) In a unique global collaboration, various companies, visionaries, and pioneers are currently building sustainable hydrogen electomobility in Switzerland for commercial vehicles and passenger cars. After a phase of preparations, industrial implementation begins this year. With Chr. Cavegn AG, Emmi (Switzerland) AG, Schöni Transporte AG, and Gebrüder Weiss AG, the association has grown to 19 members, operating over 2,000 filling stations in Switzerland and using more than 5,000 commercial vehicles.Daniel Schöni, owner of Schöni Transporte AG, representing the newest members: “As a transport company, we take our responsibility towards the environment and the implementation of climate goals as seriously as the fact that only pragmatic, feasible, and economically viable solutions will endure. Until now, we lacked the suitable technology. But now it is here, and the support association is rapidly, consistently, and on a private business basis implementing these new possibilities – a pioneering achievement ‘made in Switzerland’ that is gaining worldwide attention.”
Expansion of Hydrogen Filling Stations Along the Axis St. Gallen – Lausanne
The second milestone in the implementation of the sustainable hydrogen cycle is called “filling station”. In addition to the existing hydrogen filling station in Hunzenschwil (Coop), five more locations will begin operations by the end of 2020: Agrola/LANDI in Zofingen, AVIA in St. Gallen and Rümlang, Coop in Dietlikon, and Crissier near Lausanne.AVIA will kick off on April 17, 2020, in St. Gallen. Martin Osterwalder, head of corporate development: “The expansion of the filling station network from St. Gallen to Lausanne marks the beginning of a new era of mobility in Switzerland. Fuel cell electric vehicles are used just like gasoline vehicles. In the future, you will refuel in the same place, in the same time, and with comparable range – 500 to 700 kilometers on a full tank.”
Hydrogen Electromobility in Switzerland: A Unique Global Project
With the local production of green hydrogen, the expansion to six H2 filling stations this year, and the introduction of the Hyundai Xcient hydrogen electric commercial vehicles, hydrogen electromobility in Switzerland will become a reality starting in 2020.Jörg Ackermann, president of the H2 Mobility Switzerland support association: “The cycle is closing. Even more: It is systematically growing as our association members and various companies implement this vision in a globally unique approach. The numerous reactions and feedback from future customers confirm that the visions and investments of these companies are the right way to achieve the climate goals of road traffic in a real and sustainable manner.”
